hey, i need help from veteran deadheads - there's a show i've been looking for for years that i used to have on cassette recorded right off top 40 radio back in the days when they really got very little attention from "billboard" stations and the like...

it was a new year's show, and i remember being amazed they carried the whole show, i think - it took up two tapes without the commercials, and i'm pretty sure it was pumped live (prerequisite FCC delay, of course) - it was actually new year's, and you could hear people going apeshit at midnight

i mean, in those days, that was phenomonal, maybe like the year "in the dark" came out, and touch of grey and hell in a bucket were "in rotation" as they call it

i'm not really a "huge" deadhead, but i love any band with that quality of performance, that guys like the dead pull off so (seemingly) effortlessly, whether studio or live, and i've been familiar with their work since i was 16 (i'm 53 - ouch)

i also recall alot of people didn't like it, the show was too electric for alot of the deadheads, and the mainstream people, well whatever

i think the only real acoustic tune was goodnight irene when they went home

come to think of it, it might have been the same year or near when the ARMS concert came out, they did irene to close too - 91 ?

any and all help is much appreciated - tanx

according to "setlists" (http://www.setlists.net/?show_id=1510), the Grateful Dead played Goodnight Irene only once; 12/31/83

Thanks for the link. I listened to this earlier today and I really liked Jerrys guitar playing, His vocals however seemed to come and go. Havent listened to alot of early 80's yet. I seem to get stuck in early 70's alot.

it was anything BUT acoustic - where I think Bobby says TO Jer "mighty sweet" after. If it wasn't for the Irene referance I would say the poster is referring to the next year, when the whole NYE show was on tv
